nokia-2-phoneG

After bringing the latest Android experience to the flagship Nokia 8, HMD Global is now set to directly provide Android 8.1 Oreo to Nokia 2. The handset was launched in October with Android 7.1 Nougat and arrived in India late last month at Rs. 6,999 and now it is availble for Rs.6,824 and above.

HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas in a tweet on Thursday confirmed the Nokia 2 will receive Android 8.1 Oreo. Sarvikas also suggested that the cheapest Nokia smartphone will receive some memory management improvements from Google’s Android Go programme that was announced earlier this year and recently rumoured to debut on Nokia 1 sometime in March. “1GB RAM devices will be supported on 8.1 release where many of the Android Go memory management improvements will be integrated. Nokia 2 performance will only get better over time!” the executive tweeted.

The Android Nougat-running Nokia 2 features a 5-inch LTPS HD (720×1280 pixels) display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 SoC with four cores of ARM Cortex-A7 CPU at 1.3GHz, coupled 1GB of RAM. The smartphone has an 8-megapixel rear camera sensor with an LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera sensor. It packs a 4000mAh non-removable battery that is claimed to deliver two days of power on a single charge.

Reasons not to buy Honor 7X

Honor-7X

1.Camera

The camera performance is reasonable in good lighting, but in low light and indoors, the camera struggles a lot. Images clicked indoors lack details and have abundant noise. And since most images are clicked indoors, this is certainly a potential deal breaker.

2.Hybrid SIM Slot

Since most of us need to use two SIM cards these days, Hybrid SIM slot isn’t much different than not having a card slot at all. If you are willing to spend 15,999 INR for the 64GB Honor 7X variant, this might not be much of an issue. But the base Honor 7X variant comes with 32GB storage out of which only around 22GB is free for users. In the long run, this could be a problem for anyone who needs to use 2 SIM cards.

3.No good for heavy “Gaming”

While the Kirin 659 chipset used on the Honor 7X can handle day-to-day usage well, high-end gaming performance is not up to the mark. The gameplay isn’t smooth with games like Asphalt 8 and there are noticeable frame drops too. Even casual games like Subway surfer didn’t run smoothly at times.

If you are not much into gaming, you can still consider it as an option, but if you often play games on your phone, you’d be better off with other Snapdragon 625 phones retailing in the same budget.

4.Audio

Another key area where Honor 7X falters is audio quality. The loudspeaker on the phone isn’t very loud and also the quality of the audio via loudspeaker and via headphones isn’t anywhere close to what we experienced on phones like Mi A1 or Moto G5s Plus.

5.No Fast Charger

The 3340mAh battery on the Honor 7X can comfortably last for a day, but it doesn’t support fast charging. This, perhaps, shouldn’t be a deal breaker in this budget, but nevertheless, it’s an omission you need to be aware of to make an informed choice.

6.No Gyroscope

The Honor 7X is also missing the Gyroscope sensor which is to say, that you won’t be able to run VR apps on the phone. So, if you have been waiting to try Virtual Reality and VR headsets on your next phone, you must know that all such apps won’t work on the Honor 7X.

6 Reasons to buy the Honor 7X

1.Display

The Honor 7X comes with a virtually bezel-less display sporting a 5.93-inch (2160 x 1080 pixels) Full HD+ 18:9 2.5D curved glass screen. The display is sharp with good color reproduction, brightness, and sunlight legibility. The contrast ratio is also really good, so does the viewing angles.

Talking about the features, it comes with eye comfort mode to reduce the amount of blue light emitted by the display. When turned on, the display will seem yellowish but as studies have shown, blue light is known to be one of the reasons for people not being able to sleep at night and this should reduce it to a certain extent.

2.Battery Life

Another USP to talk about the Honor 7X is its battery backup. It is equipped with a huge 3340mAh built-in battery under the hood and has also optimized the battery consumption which can take you throughout a day on both casual and bit heavy usage as well in a single charge. Having said that, it is miles ahead of most of the other smartphones in this price range. In our One Charge rating, the Honor 7X achieved about 14 hours and 46 minutes, which is good for a phone with a large screen and a 3340mAh battery, thanks to the software optimization and power-efficient 16nm processor.

3.Performance

The Honor 7X is powered by an Octa-Core Kirin 659 processor with MaliT830-MP2 taking care of graphics department. During our usage, the performance is butter smooth and the device handles multi-tasking as well as gaming with ease. There is 4GB of RAM on board as well which explains why the device is great at multi-tasking fluidly. There are no heating issues during 4G usage or gaming, which is indeed neat. Performance wise, the Honor 7X passes with flying colors in every test you throw at it.

4.Software Optimisation

Right off the bat, the Honor 7X is shipped with Android 7.0 (Nougat) with EMUI 5.1 on top. The best thing about the EMUI is it packs various features under its sleeves. In this iteration of EMUI, you get to choose two home screen style — Standard (shows all apps on the home screen) and Drawer (shows all app on drawer screen). Moreover, you also have the option to change navigation buttons, adjust the color temperature, schedule the on and off time as well.

In order to make things more easier, you can turn on the floating dock to access Back, Home, Recent tasks, Screen lock and One-touch optimization. If you want to have two Whatsapp, Facebook account, you can make it through App Twin, whereas the process is simple.

5..Dual Camera

When it comes to Honor smartphones, you can be pretty sure about its camera performance. On papers, the Honor 7X is equipped with a 16MP rear camera with LED flash and a secondary 2MP camera. The front side of the device is taken care of the 8MP front camera. As you’d expect, the pictures captured by the Honor 7X are quite stunning. The colors are beautiful with plenty of details, the focus is pretty quick as well.

The front camera performs well and makes use of portrait mode very well. The device processing the borders is up to the mark and neat. It also comes with various modes including Pro Photo, HDR, Night shot, Panorama, Light paint and more.

6.Value for money

While some smartphones in the market are overpriced with a half-baked feature, Honor 7X is an exception. Equipped with a range of features including camera, display, and smooth performance you can get your hands on this device at just Rs. 12,999 for the 32GB storage version and Rs. 15,999 for the 64GB storage version exclusively from Amazon.in. Overall, the Honor 7X is a really good smartphone that combines great hardware with optimized software for the best experience.

Reasons not to buy iPhone X

maxresdefault

1.It’s very Pricey

Starting at Rs.89,000,the iPhone X is one of the most expensive phones ever, surpassing even the premium Galaxy Note 8.

2.Fast charging costs extra

This one is a head-scratcher. Although the iPhone X is capable of fast wired charging, you’ll need to pay extra for a Apple USB-C Power Adapter.

3.There’s a learning curve

Because Apple has ditched the Home button on the iPhone X, there’s a new way to interact with this flagship. For instance, you swipe up to go back to the home screen, and swipe down from the top right to see Control Center. You also close apps differently on the iPhone X and even power off the handset differently. You’ll need to give it at least a week to really get the hang of it.

6 Reasons to buy IPhone X

DSCF9432-1024x683

1.Looks and feels like made for the future

The iPhone X is almost all screen up front that gives you a big 5.8-inch screen in a body but there’s no home button, but that’s the point. The iPhone X is designed to be minimalist; swipe and hold briefly to show all open apps and you just swipe up to go back to the home screen. The stainless steel band adds a touch of luxurious class, as do the seamless rounded corners.

2.Face ID

IPhone X has a new way to unlock that’s face ID which works fine. You just need to simply look at the IPhone X and swipe up.

3.OLED Display

Apple claims that its 5.8-inch Super Retina Display offers more realistic colors than the competition. IPhone X’s OLED panel is also brighter and offers wider viewing angles. The screen supports HsaccDR content, too.

4.Portrait Mode is up front, with new Lighting effects

The iPhone X’s front TrueDepth camera lets you achieve the same compelling bokeh (blur) effect on backgrounds when shooting portraits as you get with the dual rear cameras. And whether you get that shot with the front or back shooter, you can apply nifty Portrait Lighting effects either before you shoot or after. Choices include Stage Light (which completely removes the background), Contour and others.

5.Dual cameras take superior pictures

Apple has seriously stepped up its camera game with the iPhone X. It offers not just a bigger and faster sensor, but photos have more true-to-life colors, better details in the shadows and improved texture. The telephoto lens in particular shines on the iPhone X, as it offers optical image stabilization for better low-light photos and videos. The iPhone 8 has OIS on only the wide-angle lens.

6.Animoji

Thanks to the TrueDepth camera up front, you can turn yourself into one of 12 characters, including a monkey, an alien or a unicorn. Your expressions will be mirrored on the Animoji, and you can record short clips of your animated self (using your voice) to send to others via iMessage. Recipients can see your clips even if they own an Android phone.
